Sparkman & Stephens (Design No 2068) cruising sloop (cutter) built by Halvorsen, Mawson and Gowland (Aust) and launched in 1972. Construction is cold moulded Oregon on laminated queensland maple frames and sheathed. She was completely refitted in 2000 and subsequently maintained to a high standard by her current owners who have cruised her extensively. Fully fitted for extended cruising including all safety equipment and electronics. Queequeg is a classic Sparkman and Stephens design to the IOR Mk111 Rule but differs from her other sister ships in she was primarily designed and used as a cruising yacht. She features a trunk, or blister deck cabin which increases her internal volume giving standing headroom of at least 6 ft2 in throughout. She features an open plan layout below with three desk hatches and a companionway to the deep and well protected cockpit. One of her near sister ships, Love and War, from the same era and construction recently won the 2006 Sydney to Hobart yacht Race.
